They say drugs in the vidya is wrong, oh so wrong but any kid could switch on to House at 8:30pm and watch some glorified pill-popping antics. I didn't realise it took federal law to do a parent's job! Because surely the classifications serve as a guideline to inform parent's about the content of a game, from which they can they can act as, say, parents? Oh but that's too hard man, the kid's might get grumpy they might throw a tantrum! Given that many modern consoles provide parents with settings to restrict the playing of these games and enforcing classifications, this argument holds too many parallels with other mediums that aren't under the same scrutiny, pressure or limitations as the gaming industry for it to remain valid. I'M SORRY MISTER ATKINSONS BUT YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO PUSH YOUR CONSERVATIVE AGENDA SOMEPLACE ELSE MAYBE YOU COULD TEAM UP WITH ANDREW BOLT OR SOMETHING?

What a load of goddamn horseshit. Dark Sector was banned due to dismemberment as well. We pay more for everything and then our government has the gall to tell us that we can't even buy it. We could walk down the street together, happily purchasing a copy of Fallout 2 and proceed to kill children, have sex, blow apart a few people, take some drugs, gamble, but - oh no! Dismemberment? Deus Ex is a pretty good game too, "hey JC got a candy bar for me?" *bang bang*. Let's slide into some ultra-conservative hypocrisy. Hey, just like that child porn/art debate that's raging. National outrage that people are presenting a nude youngster as a piece of art. Disgusting, right? That pervert! Wanna go down to the record store and pick up a copy of "Blind Faith" later? "Houses of the Holy" ain't half bad, either. Except, it's the drugs and not the dismemberment this time. It's not like Deus Ex, Boiling Point or Haze had you taking drugs either. Oh, and sticking things into your arms? Were Plasmids a suppository or something? Why don't they target real drug dealers instead of a video game. Dandenong sure could use the cleanup and I'm even more sure that all the people in the last year who were murdered in their sleep by junkies would appreciate it, I'm also quite doubtful that said junkies got their first fix from a vial of Zyme. On a personal level, the immediate effect of this isn't significant. Was I going to buy Fallout 3? Probably not. Was the cut content from GTAIV significant or essential? Not likely. Should I have the option or choice, as an adult, to experience this content? Yes. On the level of being free adult citizen of Australia, this bullshit isn't just significant, it's also very enraging. Seeing as how Bethesda is gearing Fallout 3 towards a less controversial reception and was still refused classification, what hope do we have for upcoming games - Far Cry 2 banned for causing forest fires? Actually, come to think of, it's also very ironic. A game being made by developers who treat their audience like children was banned by a government who treat their citizens like children. Haw haw! This is like going up to Bethesda and saying "I want a scotch and coke" but they reply "we only serve bacardi breezers", so you make do. Then the Australian Government comes along and says "that's no good, he's only allowed club sodas". FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
