For the past year I had been attempting to revive the old SST mod that Panzer started. That has, sadly, failed. While he gave me permission, he wasn't able to supply anything else. I haven't talked to him for several months now, so I've started a new SST mod that goes in a slightly different direction. The new name of the mod is Starship Troopers Fleet Wars. I know, not too creative, but it is space only and it will be all fleet battles. I've also decided to base the Arachnids on the book, which means the ships won't all be organic, but that some will be built. The built ones will look "Buggish", but you'll be able to tell they are artificial. Basing it on the book also allows me to include the "Skinnies", a humanoid allied race of the Arachnids. This allows more variation on the enemy ships looks as well as even possibly using the "Skinnies" as a third faction. A curious piece of trivia is, in the book the Skinnies change sides during the war, so using them as allies with the Federation would even be considered canon. lol I've got a forum open for the mod now so if anyone is interested feel free to check it out at the Fleet Wars mod page. I've made a bit of progress on the mod. I've currently got 9 fleet ships & 2 fighters finished, with 1-2 more fighters left to make for the Terran side. I also am working on a new station for the Terran side as well as some preliminary coding work. Check out the mod page for more images of what's done so far. Once the Terran models are complete aside from skinning, which I'm puting off for a while since I hate to skin, I'll be working on the Arachnid's Fleet, then the Skinnies. Now this is a ambitious idea, but one I'm committed to. I'm only 2-3 models from finishing one side, and most of the ones finished, I did just recently. But it won't be done for a long time as my team consists of just me. Cheers, Rebelmoon
