"Composers Block"

Lately I feel like I've been going through a bit of "Composers block", I describe it as being writers block but for composers. I'm going to just try writing short loops to see if that helps but I'm sure other Composers must get this from time to time so I was kinda curious as to what other people do?

My Very first blog.

Well, for my very first rant. For my very first blog, I'd like to say this:

Why do so many composer/musicians think they doen't have a use for learning music theorie.

I would be in agreement that most of it when tacken just by itself is rather boring.

But if they actually apply some of it and look at the reasons for the conventions;

Then they actually stand to gain alot more knowlegde about the inner workings of music.

The rules and convtions of western music theorie are simply the style that has evolved over the centurys, that achieve the desired effect; directing the mind to the right conclusion as to where it is in the music and feeds it the emotional content. It still has the same underlying systems all other musics of differnt cultures have. They all rely on tension and the reliese of that tension.

On the other hand as any good composer should know, a good melodie is familier yet unexpected.

So music must continuely expand and break the rules.

Some might say that we shouldn't learn music theorie so that we doen't put our mind in a box.

However I've found my mind tacken out of its box more after studieing some music theorie, than closed.

Due to seeing one way of operating this mecanism of tension and release. haveing seen one way, I think it makes it easier to find other and also more inventive ways, slowly but surely, to create the same or similar effects.

Well that was fun.

I welcome your feed back and hope to blog again sometime and I hope you enjoy reading it.
