The Life of a Modder, Part 2

The Life of a Modder, Entry 2, July 21, 2009
Well, it's been a while since my last post, so I decided to add some more to this 'blog". Also I'm waiting for my Fallout 3 Reborn V6 footage to upload. Today I've made some big leaps with Fallout 3 Reborn. New levels, weapon models (not mine, but a fellow modder is allowing the use of them), sounds, gameplay, you know the drill. So I decided to post a video.

Life outside of video-games has been pretty hectic although not exactly terrible. I was asked out by someone I only considered a friend and that was a bit awkward. On the plus side I've just returned from a 3-day camping trip, which was very fun. Once a year I like to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I spend every hour of my day either with friends or modding, so my summer has been extremely busy.

Modding-wise, I've grown tired of the imamturity displayed by several "fallout fanboys" who treat Fallout 3 like a god which must not be defaced by modders. I'm thinking of dropping Fallout 3 Reborn after Version 6 because I'm tired of the shit those jerks say. Perhaps I'll continue modding, we'll see what happens.

If any of you're reading this in hopes of news on Fallout 3 Reborn Version 6, here's the latest:

- I have a new forum up on the mod page, go check it out!

- A new video with some in-game footage is on the way

- I need 10 beta-testers for version 6. I only have 2 so far.

- ETA on the mods release is about 2 months.

Anyhow, thats enough ranting for now, the video upload is only at 51% and I'm tired, so goodnight and take care,

The Life of a Modder, Entry 1, March 31, 2009
Modding... it's like volunteering at a soup kitchen... if all the homeless people tried as hard as possible to wreck your day. Moving their bowls out of the way when you're pouring the soup and getting picky over the choice of soup today.

Ok, that analogy sucked but anyhow, modding and Quake 4's "Ultra" graphical settings are not treating me well. The Machinegun keeps its black texture, both in the players hands and on the world model, but the Blaster is green in the players hands, while the Shotgun is black in the players hands, but not on the world model. Turn the graphics back to "High" and my problems disappear. I've searched every corner of the ".pk4" files and triple-checked that every file is there in both ".tga" and ".dds" format. I'm stumped and the release date of my Q4R V2 draws closer.

In real life, the noose grows tighter as homework and a new semester strangle the life out of my free time. Speaking of which, I've got to go now and do some of that damn stuff. Take care guys,
