Ground Zero City Generation Prototype

Drag the contents of this archive into your Doom 3 folder. This release is a technology demonstration showcasing the ability to procedurally generate a game environment at runtime based on variable inputs, including a pathnode system that can be created and modified on the fly, and fully destructable architecture. Also included is a number of improvements to the step-based combat system, and the early version of an entirely new mouse-driven movement and control scheme. Character control is now point and click with a free-floating cursor, akin to isometric adventure/RPGs. Performance is greatly improved over our last release, thanks primarily to a level-of-detail system (which is still in its infancy). All characters, weapons, props, and models/textures are still placeholders, and do not reflect our vision for the finished game.

Ground Zero Prototype 2

Drag the contents if this zip into your doom folder and double click the GroundZero shortcut to play (or select it from the mods menu in Doom 3). There are two slightly different versions of the prototype map to play, the "simple prototype" being much less graphically demanding. You will start the game outside a small town occupied by hostile raiders (currently modified Doom zombies which will be replaced starting with Prototype 3) and have to battle them house to house. Be sure to read the manual: press "c" to open your character sheet and distribute skill and attribute points (very important!). Mind your surroundings, use as much cover as possible, and remember that wounds gradually debilitate the skills of both yourself and opponents.

Ground Zero Combat Prototype 1

This is a very early build which previews the form of turn-based combat we're developing for Ground Zero. We are aware there are numerous bugs and glitches, but is intended to give a glimpse into some of the play style we have in mind. We plan to release new prototypes periodically as new major features are implemented, and are more than open to feedback and suggestions: INSTALLATION: Unzip the .bat, shortcut (which will need to be modified to match your install path), and groundzero folder into your Doom 3 directory. On Windows, simply double click the .bat (or repaired shortcut). On Linux, select "groundzero" from the mod list in Doom 3. Also, you'll have to change graphics settings manually in the config (in the plugin folder). INSTRUCTIONS: A manual and known bugs list is included. For starters, be sure to press "c" and up your attribute and combat skills. You are given 10 attribute and 40 skill points, which gives you pretty high stats here.
