Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - Cloaking and Detection

Cloaking plays in important role in Star Trek. It is a core feature for both the Romulans and the Klingons, and finding a cloaked vessel often was the key element of an episode. Sadly, due to limitations of the Armada 2 engine also in Fleet Operations, detection was rather simple - a sensor station detects all cloaked vessels in their radius - a system that made cloaking mostly useless.
But that has changed! New cloak detectors will work similar to what you have seen in the shows.

New Borg Features

We already discussed the veteran vessels in the past newsposts, but havent talked much about the Borg. The collective will get a large redo in 3.0.6 touching many of the game mechanics.
The change you might spot first when playing the new patch as the Borg should be the missing priority resource. It has been replaced by a new one, called Collective Connections. They represent the number of possible connections to the collective, required to operate large Borg vessels.

Veteran Abilities

We want to take a closer look at the new veteran vessels and their unique abilities today. Similar to the officer abilities vessels already get when reaching an officer rank, veteran abilities are usually passive and apply all the time, but some units also gain new active abilities.

Heroes of the day

One of the features requested most in the forums were hero units, like known from some other real-time-strategy games. Till now we always stated that we do not want to include "game-defining" hero units, as Fleet Operations is focused on fleet combat. But you could read some small hints that we plan to implement something similar to hero units in the future. Well, the time has come!
